Bikini Epilator Vs Bikini Trimmer: Which one is better?

With the summer season just around the corner, we ladies better get cracking on those hair-removal secrets we have up our sleeves. When considering hair removal, the first thing that comes to mind are the “oooh”-s and “aaaah”-s of pain we endure each and every time…however, some products can make your experience just that much less painful; and that is what I am here to discuss with you today.

I don’t know about you, but I ran in the other direction the first time I even heard the name “epilator.” Let’s see…a small, buzzing machine women use to intentionally rip the hair out of their skin?! NO thanks! But to be perfectly honest, after a couple of tries, I must say it really is worth it. Let’s see…first of all, what is an epilator? An epilator, as defined by Dictionary.com is “an electrical appliance consisting of a metal spiral head that rotates at high speed, plucking unwanted hair.” Or, to put it finely, yet another alternative to waxing, meaning we don’t just shave off the hair as a razor/trimmer would do, but we remove it from the root. Who are they for and why should you pick them?  For all you lucky ducks out there with very little, light blonde peach fuzz…you don’t need this. Epilators are targeted more towards women with dark and thicker hair, which becomes visible on the skin much faster then lighter hair as it grows; it therefore needs a more long-lasting method of hair removal. Aside from the fact that you won’t need to epilate every week, it also exfoliates the skin leaving it smooth and silky. ( Saving you money on exfoliating creams!)

As a result of modern-day technology, many epilators claim to be “virtually pain-free” or to last you “at least 5 weeks”, and let’s face it…considering that your bikini area is possibly the most sensitive part of your body, there better be as little pain as possible! A small word of advice, be sure to consult the “fashoin-centric” lady in your group of friends about this,as experience is the key to buying the best product, and she certainly has more of it then you do!

Now, onto trimmers. Here we can all breathe a sigh of relief as there will be no hair-plucking. A trimmer is essentially a razor, removing the hair from the surface of the skin.

As stated by Persephone Magazine, “The best bikini trimmer is…not going to give you an amazing close shave, nor is it a replacement for waxing.” Straight away, we can assume that the main advantage here is a pain-free hair removal of your lovely lady parts! However, it will not exfoliate your skin, nor will it last you the 5 weeks that a bikini epilator would do.

In conclusion, which one is better? That really depends on your aims in relation to hair removal. If you are a badass lady that isn’t going to wince at the slightest mention of pain, then the epilator is for you! However, if you prefer to keep your badass powers to yourself and leave the pain to others…then hooray to the bikini trimmer!
